Indianapolis - Indianapolis
Included in the MotoGP calendar for the first time in 2008, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway MOTO GP track uses only a small section of the oval and the South East curve used for NASCAR races, where the cars reach more than 200mph.
The rest of the track unfolds in the area within the original track, featuring a series of slow corners, with a narrow layout that runs counterclockwise.
The most demanding part of the Indy circuit isn’t the layout, but rather the three different grades of Tarmac used in the track’s construction, which gives differing levels of grip, requiring good set-up work to find the best compromise.
The weather can also play havoc with proceedings, as we saw in the inaugural Indianapolis GP. Wet weather can exacerbate the differences in Tarmac.
