The circuit of Doha/Losail

A surprising setting accommodates the Losail International Circuit located close to Doha the capital of Qatar. Built in just under a year with 1000 workers, the cost of this exceptional creation rose to 58 million dollars and was inaugurated in 2004 at the occasion of the Grand Prix on October 2nd. It is equipped to receive motorsports events, from two wheels to four wheels, and the characteristic of this circuit is the possibility of racing during the night, thanks to a perfect installation of lighting.

Without elevation changes, the layout is a mixture of slow and fast turns, with a straight line of more than 1 km.
Its characteristics do not depend on its configuration but on the geographical position. If it’s windy, sand “sweeps” the track making it slippery, and the temperature changes are an additional worry for riders, technicians and manufacturers of tires.

The night race of the Grand Prix of Qatar, satisfies the timing requirements of the televised networks and the European public. This represents a great opportunity for the media and at the same time a historical moment for the World Motorcycle Championship.
